Beach House Pictures’ Momo Film has signed a co-production deal with Seoul-based Bros Studio to develop a slate of Kenaz webtoons into scripted TV content for international audiences, the companies said this morning on opening day of this year’s ContentAsia Summit.

The webtoon projects in development include “Mirror Game” and “All About Money”.

“Mirror Game” is about a master illusionist with ill intentions becoming a viral sensation after successfully hypnotising people online.

In “All About Money”, three best friends unexpectedly come across one billion dollars and are thrown into the illicit world of crime and corruption.

The webtoon projects are backed by Beach House Pictures, which released the series “Mr Midnight” on Netflix in 2022 and recently announced an Ink Factory development deal for a television series of the iconic 1970s Singapore action trilogy, “Cleopatra Wong”.

Korean webtoons, originally designed for mobile phones, have become popular source material for many streaming platforms, headlined by global hits like Korea’s “All of Us are Dead”, “Sweet Home” and “Itaewon Class".

Momo Film recently clinched two awards at the Locarno Film Festival through feature film, “Dreaming and Dying”, directed by Singapore filmmaker Nelson Yeo, and has Indonesia-Singapore co-production “Andragogy” in the official selection for the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival.
