An experimental collage film about a fictional island shaped like a human body that cannot be conquered or fully understood. The film’s style is at a cross-section of a 1950s educational newsreel video, a 1930s Gothic horror film (“The Cabinet of the Dr. Caligari”), and the playful, intimate documentaries of Les Blank. It is an adventure of discovery, about a land and people undiscovered and uncorrupted. Accompanied throughout by instrumental jazz and orchestral instruments, the film celebrates the exuberance of the body, the spirituality of music and movement, and the constant calamity and renewal of life.
